Due to the COVID 19 pandemic there have been some changes to the way care is delivered by Dr Morrison. In addition to in person consultations, telehealth consultations are available. A medical referral is still needed to allow for medicare billing. Out of pocket charges apply as this is a private clinic.
To attend an in person consultation, there are limitations in place. Only the patient and one caregiver can attend. There is a pre visit screening process regarding risk factors for COVID 19. In addition, on arrival you will be asked to wash your hands, wear a face mask and may have your temperature taken. The appointment scheduling has been modified to minimise the time patients spend in the waiting room.
Surgery is still occurring. If surgery is needed, Dr Morrison will discuss the urgency of surgery, alternative treatment options, and modifications that can be made to ensure safety in the COVID 19 period.
Update Aug 3 2020
Due to the increasing number of active COVID cases in metro Melbourne, all appointments have been changed to telehealth during stage 3/4 lockdown. If the patient's condition is found to require an in person visit, that will be organised for a seperate day. The timing of the in person visit is dependant on the urgency of the condition.
Currently, surgery is limited to urgent cases only. This means surgery that can not wait 6 weeks without significant deterioration of the patient. Cases are reviewed by the hospital medical advisory panel for approval. To undertake surgery, the patient and parent must isolate for a minimum of 5 days prior to surgery, both undertake Covid swabs 5 days prior to surgery, and pass the hospital screening process.
